Oishi Japanese Cuisine & Bar

The sushi was delicious and fresh. We ordered the sushi for 2 - which was beautifully presented and provided ample food portions for more than two people. Our meal was served with salad and miso soup. I absolutely loved the salad dressing and the crisp lettuce. The miso soup was flavorful and warm.

Service was exceptional. We were seated promptly at a nice table. Our server was happy and pleasant. The overall decor and ambiance is welcoming and spacious. There were several diners at this restaurant and yet it wasn't noisy at all.

We will definitely be back. This is the best sushi around!

I thought the sushi was okay. The veggie tempura dish was better. My friend who doesn't normally have Japanese thought it was great.

But the service was great. Sat at the bar and the staff were really nice and attentive.

If I could give 4.5 stars I would. The lunch deals for sushi are some of the best value I've seen in a long time. You can get 3 sushi rolls, 1 crab rangoon and soup for $14. The rolls are really good and plentiful in portions. The service is fast and friendly. We got the Godzilla, Magic, and LA roll. La was our favorite then the magic roll then Godzilla but they were all so good and different. I'd get those three again next time. I ordered the hibachi shrimp meal and it was good for the value but not the best food I've ever had or anything. Next time I would get the sushi or try the teriyaki lunch special. We will definitely be back here when we are craving some sushi!

FPO and I found our neighborhood bar and surprisingly enough, it's a Kansas sushi restaurant. We've been there a couple of times. The last time we sat at the bar and watched. Just wanted a drink, something light to eat, and to unwind after a long day.

Lol, everyone who walked in the door was treated like a long lost friend. The crowd looked like an equal mix of dine in and take away. Because we sat at the bar, we had the best seats in the house. Suzie (the bartender) is the best! She's attentive, knowledgeable about the menu items, and funny! We had a couple of drinks, a couple of plates of pretty good sushi, and a good time.

Ambiance: indoor seating. Nice but did not look 100% clean.

Food: I did not like sushi that much. Rice was too chewy. Rolls were blunt.
Was is extraordinary was the dessert. Not overly sweet. Perfectly cooked. Keeping moisture inside.
This is a sushi place where I can skip sushi and go directly to the dessert menu.

Service was good, no major concerns

Good food, good service. We have a nice experience every time. It is a fun little blast from the past in their old building

Oishi was I would say a okay spot to eat at. My first time here, so I tried a variety of rolls and regular sushi items you would usually get at any other sushi restaurant.

The best thing I ordered was surprisingly the Sunomono. The sauce was great and also had a nice laugh when I came out in a margaritas glass.

Goyza and Calamari were a bit on the average side.

For me I didn't like the Tuna Tataki

The for sushi rolls everything was mid. Nothing stood out as in taste. Best roll that was tasty would of been the spider roll.

We went to Oishi to celebrate Valentine's Day. We ordered food at 6:40 pm & still had not received it at 8:00 (we did receive the single piece of sushi we ordered for an appetizer). We were told several times that the to-go orders were delaying our order. We told the wait staff we needed to leave to get home to our kids & they brought us a bill for the $6 appetizer we had eaten. Such a disappointment to spend $$ on a babysitter & be ready to spend money at a restaurant- only to have to-go orders be a higher priority than customers in the restaurant.

sushi was amazing! it was our first time trying and we will definitely come back. i got passion roll and it was shaped in a heart, so cute! the sushi tasted fresh and our food came out quick. our waiter was so nice and the ambiance/decorations were super cool. 10/10 place!

Staff are friendly and attentive. Ambiance is relaxing and inviting. Food is fresh and flavorful. Top 5 sushi restaurants in a 50 mile radius. (I live in KCMO).
